You guys know I love nice cream – heck I’ve posted this stunning protein version, cherry chocolate chip, a peanut buttery buckeye shake, and even a version full of COOKIE DOUGH CHUNKS – and yes, it’s as a good as it sounds.
So when I was thinking up a new nice cream to share with you guys now that it’s all hot and summery and what not, I kinda realized I’ve never posted my ultimate, favorite, classic, go to nice cream for any old time when I’m just craving a sweet, chocolatey treat.
This vegan 2 ingredient chocolate nice cream looks simple and innocent, and really, it is. It couldn’t be easier to throw together, but I think its simplicity is why I’m so in love with it! This is the first version of nice cream I EVER tried, and I remember being so impressed that you could get this creamy, dreamy, rich texture with just some frozen bananas.
Ingredients for vegan 2 ingredient chocolate nice cream
- Frozen banana: banana gives the nice cream sweetness and super rich and creamy texture.
- Cacao powder: cacao gives lots of rich chocolate flavor.
- Water: a bit of liquid helps the nice cream blend.
Tips for making vegan 2 ingredient chocolate nice cream
- Freeze your bananas when they’re super ripe. Always wait to freeze bananas until they’re super ripe and spotty. This is when they have the most sweetness and banana flavor.
- Add as little liquid as possible. I start with just 1/4 cup of water, then add little by little just to help the blender get things going. The less liquid you add, the thicker and more ice cream-like it will be.
This vegan 2 ingredient chocolate nice cream is about as easy as it gets, but the flavor and texture NEVER disappoint. Plus, you really can’t argue with just 2 healthy ingredients.

Ingredients
- 2 frozen bananas
- 2 tbsp cacao powder
- 1/4-1/2 cup water – you may need more or less depending on how powerful your blender is and how thick you want your nice cream
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until totally smooth and creamy.
Hi Sara! I just want to say how blown away I was by this recipe, it has litteraly changed my life. Now forever my life will be divided into before and after I discovered that I can have the worlds easiest, rich and creamy, sweet, VEGAN and guiltfree ice-cream in 2 minutes!!!
I just have one question, I’m browsing through all your recipes and noticed that in another recipe for Nice Cream you wrote to put in the freezer after you’ve made it. I was wondering if this is still viable (if so, why you do it?) or something you have gone away from with time. Will it loose some of its creamy-ness?

Hi, Monika! So happy you like this recipe, it’s so simple but one of my absolute favorites, too! I typically don’t put it back in the freezer (unless it’s just for a few minutes to get something else ready) because I prefer the texture straight out of the blender. Hope that helps!
