Vegan chocolate strawberry protein overnight oats are rich and creamy, and the best healthy way to start the day. Super easy to prep the night before for the busiest mornings, and made with just 6 ingredients.
Since we made the more special, decadent dessert treat for v-day, today we’re making breakfast highlighting my fave combo around this time of year, chocolate + strawberry. These vegan chocolate strawberry protein overnight oats are super simple, quick, and easy to prep the night before so that you have a healthy, delish breakfast ready to go in the morning.
Ingredients for vegan chocolate strawberry protein overnight oats
- Rolled oats: I always use old-fashioned, whole grain rolled oats because they have the best texture and chew.
- Ground flaxseed: ground flax provides a lot of nutrition, including omega-3s. It helps to give the oats a nice thick texture.
- Cacao powder: cacao is loaded with antioxidants, and an essential for the rich chocolate flavor. You could also use regular unsweetened cocoa powder.
- Protein powder: I use Complement protein (and you can learn about their products + use my discount code to try it) because it’s definitely the simplest, highest quality vegan protein available. Any vegan protein should work, but it may change the texture/flavor slightly. Also, Complement doesn’t have any sweetener (which I love), so be mindful that the oats themselves won’t be sweetened unless you add a bit yourself. I prefer them this way because the fruit on top is enough sweetness for me, but feel free to add some date sugar, stevia, or maple syrup if you’d like.
- Nondairy milk: you’ll soak the oat mixture in some nondairy milk overnight (or for a few hours). I use unsweetened almond milk, but any nondairy milk should work.
- Fresh or frozen strawberries: I pile lots of strawberries on top for natural sweetness and a great complement to the chocolate flavor of the oats.
Tips for making vegan chocolate strawberry protein overnight oats
- Add a splash of milk right before serving to get a texture you like. I typically don’t add more liquid at this stage because I like my oats VERY thick, but feel free to add a bit more milk to get the texture you prefer.
- Have fun with the toppings. Feel free to add anything else you like in addition to the strawberries – a few vegan chocolate chips make it extra fun and fancy.
Overnight oats really just never fail to taste great, and it’s just a plus they’re so easy to throw together with a few simple, healthy ingredients. These vegan chocolate strawberry protein overnight oats are rich, creamy, full of that classic chocolate + strawberry combo, and packed with plant protein to keep you full and satisfied until lunch.

Vegan Chocolate Strawberry Protein Overnight Oats
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
- 1 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 serving vegan protein powder – I always use Complement protein, you can learn all about Complement and use my discount code to order here! https://sweetvegansara.com/my-favorite-vegan-supplements/
- 3/4 cup nondairy milk – I use unsweetened almond milk

Instructions
- Mix the oats, ground flaxseed, cacao powder, and protein powder in a bowl. If you want to add a little sweetener (like date sugar) here, you can. I prefer them unsweetened as the fruit on top is sweet enough for me, but if you have a strong sweet tooth, add whatever sweetener you like.
- Add the nondairy milk and stir to combine.
- Set in the fridge for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
- When you're ready to eat, mix the oats and add a bit more milk depending on the texture you want, then top with strawberries.
