Zen + Cozy Nursery Tour

Giving you a tour of our baby boy’s nursery! A zen + cozy room full of simple, neutral decor for a bright look and calm feel.

Zen + Cozy Nursery Tour

I am SO excited to finally share our zen + cozy nursery tour! Joe and I had so much fun making every little decision for this room and making it look exactly the way we wanted for our little boy who’s arriving in just a few weeks.

I didn’t have any specific photos I used as inspiration, but definitely had a picture in my mind of how I wanted the nursery to look. Overall I wanted it to be pretty neutral, so no primary colors. I really wanted it to feel light and bright but also have a calm feel, and I couldn’t be happier with how it came out.

I’ll do my best to link all the products in the photos, and none of them are sponsored/affiliate links! Just stuff we searched out ourselves and genuinely love.

We started with the walls, and Joe did such a good job. He painted 3 of them a light gray, and we left one wall white for an accent and because we found this palm leaf decal we love that has a white background.

One non-negotiable piece of decor I knew we needed from the start was a sign with baby boy’s first + middle name on it. We went with a gray, brushed wood background and his first and middle names are in two different fonts, both white. It is SO beautiful and hands down one of my favorite parts of the whole room – we got it from this etsy store.

For the crib, we wanted something really simple, and I love the look of it. We also found out when we were putting it together that one side comes off and has a different type of gate so that it can be used as a toddler bed too, which was a pleasant surprise.

I really wanted a dedicated space for nursing and also just for snuggling and reading a book, so we started with this amazingly comfy glider. I love the cute and simple little side table, which is perfect for water bottles/random stuff like that and also for our Hatch white noise machine + night light (it’s not in the photo because it’s currently packed in our hospital bag!).

Putting up the decal was definitely a two person job, but not super difficult. It came in three long strips and was basically like sticking a giant sticker onto the wall. I love how it came out and the pop of color it adds to the room.

We also decided to add this little bench so that both Joe and I could be in there at the same time and not have to sit on the floor. The cushion on top is actually comfortable and I love that it has storage space underneath.

Anybody else collect Beanie Babies as a kid?! I probably had hundreds but narrowed down my favorites to pass down to our babe.

Next is the book shelf. I used to be a kindergarten teacher and LOVE children’s books. I can’t wait to read to our little one, and Joe has already started every night so that he’ll recognize his voice once he’s born, too! So sweet.

We love the look of this shelf, the gray + white ties in so well with everything else and the shelves are deep enough for books but also for storing other stuff. I also really like the open drawer at the bottom (it doesn’t move but is super open) for storing toys, or for right now, more of my childhood stuffed animals.

The cute little cloud on top is actually a humidifier (and can be used as a night light!), I love it so much, and of course, we couldn’t forget the diaper pail for all those baby poos! We went with the gray diaper genie.

I’m also so happy with the little gray + white rope baskets, I got 6 and used 3 on this shelf for stuff we’ll probably grab multiple times per day and want easy access to (like burp cloths). I have the others in the closet for organization and one that’s on the downstairs, main level of our home that’s stocked with diapers + wipes and a changing pad, so we don’t have to run upstairs to change him every time.

Rivaling the name sign for my favorite decor piece in the entire nursery are these 3 baby animal paintings. We got these from this Minted store and they are seriously stunning, and so, so adorable. We chose a baby leopard, elephant, and zebra, but there are lots of other options and more colorful ones by the same artist.

Under those is the changing table + dresser, which is from the same brand that makes the bookshelf. The feet also look really similar to those on the crib, so it all looks really nice together.

The hamper is the same as the little organizing rope baskets on the bookshelf, just a much bigger size and a cylinder shape. It’s the perfect size for a load of baby laundry and I love that the colors tie in with everything else in the room.

The super soft and fluffy white rug covers a lot of the dark gray carpet (the one thing we didn’t get to choose!) and really helps brighten up the whole room. This made a surprisingly big difference in the overall look of the nursery, I’m so happy we got it.

Just had to include this because it makes my type A, super organized heart so happy – let’s hope it stays this organized! We’re stocked with the Honest Company newborn diapers and their wipes for now, but we also got a set of nice cloth diapers and will hopefully switch over in a few months once we’re in a bit more of a routine.

Ugh you guys, I CANNOT GET OVER how much I love the name sign, seriously my fave part of the whole room.

  1. I’m so glad I finally had a chance to come back to this and take my time reading/looking at everything. This is hands down, my favorite nursery ever. I just love how it all goes together and the animal paintings are so perfect! There are going to be so many wonderful memories made in that room! <3
