Other times, I want nice cream that’s more of a decadent, dessert-like treat. Which is exactly how I’d describe this vegan chocolate peanut butter protein nice cream. It’s still really simple and made with just 5 healthy ingredients, but the chocolate + PB combo seriously is so rich and amazing, it’s like eating ice cream.
Ingredients for vegan chocolate peanut butter protein nice cream
- Frozen bananas: super ripe bananas give the nice cream sweetness and super rich and creamy texture.
- Cacao powder: cacao gives rich chocolate flavor.
- Peanut butter: make sure to choose oil-free, unsweetened peanut butter for the most nutrient-dense option and the best pure peanut flavor. You could also use peanut butter powder for a low fat option.
- Protein powder: I always use Complement protein because it’s the best quality, super simple and clean vegan protein you’ll find, but any vegan protein should work (though it may slightly change the texture/flavor).
- Nondairy milk: a little liquid helps everything blend together.
Tips for making vegan chocolate peanut butter protein nice cream
- Freeze your bananas when they’re super ripe. Always wait to freeze bananas until they’re super ripe and spotty. This is when they have the most sweetness and banana flavor.
- Add as little liquid as possible. I start with just 1/4 cup of milk, then add little by little just to help the blender get things going. The less liquid you add, the thicker and more ice cream-like it will be.
- Keep it simple or add some toppings. This nice cream is great on its own, but feel free to add some toppings. I love some vegan chocolate chips on top for a little texture.

Ingredients
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 tbsp cacao powder

- 1 tbsp oil-free unsweetened peanut butter – you could also swap for peanut butter powder for a low fat option
- 1/4 – 1/2 cup nondairy milk – I use unsweetened almond milk and I always start with 1/4 cup, then add a little at a time as needed to make sure everything is blended but the texture is still super thick.
Instructions
- Add all the ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until totally smooth.
- Add any toppings if desired and enjoy!
