Vegan Chocolate Cherry Oatmeal

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup whole grain rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder
  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • Toppings: 1/2 cup fresh or thawed frozen dark sweet cherries

Instructions
 

  • Mix the oats, flax and cacao powder in a bowl. I don't sweeten the oats because the fruit on top is enough sweetness for me, but free to add a bit of sweetener of your choice to the oats (like liquid stevia drops) if you'd like.
  • In a microwave safe mug or glass, heat the water in the microwave until it's steaming hot, then carefully remove from the microwave using a towel and pour over the oats.
  • Cover the bowl of oats with a plate and let it sit for at least 1 hour.
  • When you're ready to eat, mix up the oats and top with cherries.
