Vegan Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie

It’s peanut butter jelly SMOOTHIE time!

PB&J is such a fun flavor combination, and to me, it’s extra good in spring and summertime, for whatever reason. This smoothie has all the classic peanut butter and jelly flavors, and it’s made with just a few healthy ingredients.

Ingredients for a vegan peanut butter and jelly smoothie

  • Frozen banana: a ripe, frozen banana gives the smoothie a bit of sweetness and super creamy texture.
  • Frozen raspberries: raspberries are my favorite berry for this smoothie because they give the best bright, fruity, jelly-like flavor.
  • Complement protein powder: protein helps make the smoothie more satisfying and gives a thick texture. I do have a discount code you can use on your Complement order, it’s definitely the highest quality plant-based protein you’ll find! You can use a different vegan powder, but because Complement is totally unflavored, a different protein may change the flavor slightly.
  • Ground flaxseed: I love adding flax to smoothies because it’s super nutrient dense and a great source of omega 3s.
  • Peanut butter: make sure to choose oil-free, unsweetened peanut butter for the best pure PB flavor and to avoid a lot of junk that’s sometimes added to store-bought nut butters. You could also use peanut butter powder for a low fat option.
  • Nondairy milk: a bit of milk helps bring the smoothie together. I use unsweetened almond milk for a neutral flavor, but any nondairy milk should work.

Tips for making a vegan peanut butter and jelly smoothie

  • Freeze your bananas when they’re super ripe. Always wait to freeze bananas until they’re super ripe and spotty. This is when they have the most sweetness and banana flavor.
  • Feel free to add a bit more/less liquid to get a texture you like. If you like a thinner, very drinkable smoothie, you may want a bit more milk, and if you like it super thick (or even a smoothie bowl), add less.
Vegan Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie

This vegan peanut butter and jelly smoothie is so simple and quick to throw together, but the flavor never disappoints! It has the perfect amount of tart, berry flavor for the jelly element, and of course, that rich, peanut butter that goes so well with the fruit. It’s a super light but satisfying way to start the day!
